Basics
The devellopment of Sipman was started as an monitoring tool, gathering information from as many as possible sources, to help in during an network migration. After a while a tool was needed to migrate the entire network to a new ip numbering scheme. Nowadays Sipman can be used for the folowing key areas.

Ip monitoring. Discover and test the uptime of nodes on your network. Sipman will automatically try to get as much info as possible, using snmp, inporting info from dns and integrate info from external spreadsheets.
- IP Management. Integrated dns (bind) and dhcp support will allow to automatically manage your IP adresses.
- Monitoring of the usage of your switch ports.
- Graphing of performance data.
